Women Reveal How They Use Fashion to Feel Empowered

Fashion is a reflection of our personality. What you decide to dress in reveals much about your fashion and style. It's a means of expression however it's also an effective tool to change. Fashion is empowering for women. Something that is powerful and achievable. Fashion is also a reflection of yourself you want the world to look at. It reveals individuality and allows you to be yourself without needing words.

HOW ARE WOMEN EMPOWERED THROUGH FASHION?

Every woman has her own unique style of seeing the world. This can be seen in the clothes she wears. Every woman's idea of self-confidence is unique. Certain women prefer wearing more modest clothes, while other women prefer wearing more open-faced clothes. Designer Rachel Zoe, who is one of our Fashion innovators has this to say "In my case, the purpose of my company has always been to inspire women to live their lives of style, no matter what it means." Like every definition of empowering women through fashion, so too is the definition of living a life in fashion. How do you define living a lifestyle of style mean to you?

EMPOWERING WOMEN - FASHION AND POLITICS

Fashion is also a way to empower and inspire women of all races, ages and economic background politically. Tees that feature slogans such as, "Cool Girls Vote", "Nevertheless She Persisted" and "She believed that she could do it do it, and she did" will inspire women to become politically active. Indeed, these slogans appear on bookmarks and pins too. The #MeToo campaign is one particular one that has interspersed the world of fashion with politics. It has reinforced the idea that women who are wearing a visible outfit doesn't mean it is "asking to be asked". The issue has received less focus in recent years however, the notion of women being capable of wearing whatever they want , without judgment regardless of whether the outfit is more open or modest is a way to empower women.

INFLUENCERS AND INFLUENCE:

Influencers make money from different trends, especially those in fashion. They are compensated by fashion companies to endorse their products. As the interest grows on ways to be more eco green, the power of influencers will eventually decrease. Fashion designer Rachel Zoe, "I think the value of a brand is as good as the person who is behind it today." If women see other women who wear a particular clothing or brand they may be influenced to seek out a similar style others if they have similar preferences in fashion. This is particularly true of women who are famous and have large fan base composed of young, impressionable women. Wearing the same clothes you think that you could be your idol.
