Female Empowerment in Fashion Tech: Where Are We?

According to the 2018 Global Gender Gap Report, it will take 108 years to close the gender gap between men and women. It is currently 68%, and the proportion of women in leadership roles to 34%.

The goal of women empowerment fashion is to examine female entrepreneurship in the fashion tech sector and support all female entrepreneurs who want to succeed in innovation.

The environment for startups is cutting-edge and innovative. 71% of American startups lack female board members, and 57% lack female C-Suite roles.

Another critical aspect to consider is how much money female companies can raise in comparison to their male competitors. As we previously stated, men have historically dominated the finance industry.

Women in Business

According to the European Commission's paper "Funding women entrepreneurs: How to empower growth," despite the fact that 38% of startup founders are women, US-based startups founded exclusively by women entrepreneurs only received about 2% of total venture investment in value in 2017. In the European Union, this percentage was 11% for businesses with at least one female founder.

The underrepresentation of women in the venture capital industry is another factor. According to recent research, approximately four out of five venture capital firms in the United States have never hired a woman for senior roles.

Only 13% of the investment decision-making roles at UK-based venture capital firms are held by women.

According to the study, women-owned startups made $0.78 in revenue for every $1 invested, compared to $0.31 for startups run by men.
